Delegates do NOT need to describe their crisis arc or other individual plans, though they may if they wishĪlternative Position Papers: Non-Traditionals Delegates should not write individual Position Papers for the listed topics- these are listed to overview the elements that will appear in committee. Position Papers for crisis committees must follow these formatting guidelines:Įach delegate must submit a two-page, single-spaced document that explains the situation at hand, potential solutions to the topics, and what the delegate will advocate during the committee. A committee is considered a “crisis committee” if it has a Crisis Manager, which can be determined by looking at NAIMUN’s specific committee page. This is primarily because large, traditional committees have defined topics whereas crisis committees have more general topic areas that could be explored but are not as defined. Position papers will be slightly different for crisis committees. (Note: All committees have more than one topic).Ĭrisis Committees: Historical Crisis, Contemporary Crisis, National Security Apparatus Each topic’s paper must be at minimum one page single-spaced. One Position Paper should be written per topic. Traditional Committee: General Assemblies, Economic & Social Councils Position Papers must be in 12-point Times New Roman font and include a header with the delegate name, position, committee, school, and topic. (Note: Works Cited do not count in the one page requirement per topic.) Position Papers must be in MLA or Chicago style formatting, including a Works Cited/Bibliography with either parenthetical or footnote citations. How will you solve any problems that might arise in implementing these solutions? What solutions would your position propose to the situation at hand? Why and how would they work? These solutions do not necessarily have to come directly from your nation or position, though it is encouraged. This is where you can let your creativity and research combine, and begin formulating the kinds of proposals that will later come to fruition in your resolutions. The third paragraph should be a discussion of solutions that you are proposing to solve the problem. What policies have worked and not worked in the past on a national and international scale? What does your position generally think about the issue? ![]() This is most likely the longest part of the position paper and the place in which you will utilize most of your research. The second paragraph should be an analysis of the topic from your country’s perspective as well as a multilateral perspective. This is the shortest and least important section of the position paper. What is the history of the issue according to your nation? The first paragraph should be an introduction to the topic from the perspective of your position. Header with committee name, delegate name, position, school, and topic.
